AMETEK Land’s instruments are designed to operate in some of the industry’s harshest environments. However, performance is reliant on the equipment remaining undamaged, which can often be unseen. Regular calibration ensures the equipment continues to operate as per published specification. There are many different factors to consider when deciding the correct frequency of calibration, for example harshness of environment, handling and storage (portables), criticality of measurement, just to name a few.

AMETEK Land recommend annual service and calibration, which is included as standard in our AMECare Service Contracts, for more information click here. For even greater accuracy and traceability, click here to see our Certification offerings.

Non-contact devices cannot scratch or mark the surface, and can be used on fast-moving processes without damage, whilst being directed to look at exactly the position you want to measure. Measurements calculations can be made very quickly, within a millisecond in some cases.  They can also be used at a distance from the process, so out of the immediate area of a hot or dangerous zone, and they do not suffer from wear and tear, or measurement drift.

Find out more information about our non-contact measurement solutions here.
Planck’s Law and Pyrometer (another name for a spot thermometer) are good terms to research. Additionally, contact us for more information on training where we cover all topics of temperature measurement.

Find out more about training here.
Calibration is an adjustment of instrument reading or confirmation that the instrument is measuring as designed.  Usually backed by a statement of conformance to the published specification.

Certification is an additional service giving independent certification of the instruments measuring capability fully detailing the results taken, method of test, and the uncertainty of the measurements made.  This may be required for compliance purposes or simply to monitor the instruments stability to further increase confidence in measurement. Our certification service verifies the performance accuracy of your instrument at a given point in time by quantifying its errors and these are reported in a national accreditation certificate confirming it meets the requirements of ISO / IEC 17025:2005.

AMETEK-Land Calibration and Certification are both traceable to national & international standards. To find out more here.
You can be assured that when you purchase an AMETEK Land instrument it is provided with a Certificate of Conformity confirming that the instrument has been manufactured and inspected to documented procedures, in accordance with ISO 9001:2008, and calibrated against national and international standards.  It also certifies that the instrument conforms to published specifications, drawings, workmanship standards, and production order requirements. For more information about our certificate of conformity click here.
For measurements to be interchangeable, they must relate to a common standard. For temperature measurement that is ITS-90 - The International Temperature Scale of 1990 and traceability refers to a chain of measurements linking an instrument’s performance to ITS-90. Certification under the ISO / IEC 17025:2005 standard assures the user that their instrument’s certification is traceable, giving continued confidence in interchange of measurement.

All our laboratory facilities are accredited against the ISO / IEC 17025:2005 standard as approved by national accreditation bodies to evaluate our technical competence, impartiality and performance.
